Rovio Has Sold More Than 2 Million Angry Birds Plush Toys

Angry Birds is officially part of pop culture: Rovio has sold more than 2 million plush toys from the game, executive Peter Vesterbacka said during a speech at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this afternoon.
This is just the beginning: Rovio plans to expand the Angry Birds franchise into other types of products.
The game has been downloaded more than 50 million times and is the top-selling iPhone app of all time.
Rovio is also making a lot of money selling in-game add-ons -- Vesterbacka said that more than 40% of new Angry Birds users also downloaded the $0.99 "mighty eagle" add-on -- and the free Android version of the game is earning more than $1 million a month from advertising.
Vesterbacka also emphasized the importance of persistence: Rovio created 51 games for mobile platforms before it finally had its breakout success.
