A quick update on our earlier post on today’s S&P500 gap open. The SPY made an intraday low of $133.84 after its 0.93 percent gap up at the open at $134.77. This closed 74 percent of the gap, consistent with our post,
What stands out is that in all periods the opening gap higher is at least 50 percent filled on the same day in 80 percent of the higher opens. Fading up and buying down opens are a favorite of the trading set and you can see here that on higher opens they have the probabilities on their side.
Still an impressive trading session and close at the highs of the day.

Path, the mobile social networking startup, has hired another employee away from Facebook: Operations manager Matthew Welty, who had joined Facebook about 4 years ago, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Path founder/CEO Dave Morin was an early and influential Facebook employee, so it makes sense that he'd hire away a few former coworkers.
(Most recently, Path hired another Facebook engineer, Nathan Folkman, but he wasn't there when Morin worked there.)
Here's how Welty describes his work at Facebook on LinkedIn: "I worked in a range of hands-on technical and people management roles, from starting Facebook's original 24x7x365 Site Reliability team, to conceiving and managing the Application Operations group, and finally architecting, implementing and supporting the technical infrastructure behind the new Facebook Messages."
